Yarra Bend Park has the largest area of natural bushland in inner Melbourne. The park is managed and maintained by Parks Victoria.

Covering 260ha, this park has numerous cycling and walking tracks and picturesque picnic spots with the Yarra River winding its way through the beautiful surrounds.

Also home to the historic Studley Park Boathouse, Yarra Bend Park is the perfect place to spend a day on or off the river, set yourself up in the picnic area or even hire a boat and go paddling.

History

The park, located where the Yarra River and Merri Creek join, has been an important site for the Wurundjeri Aboriginal people for a long time before the arrival of Europeans in Melbourne. This is commemorated by the Koori Garden on the western edge of the park, near Dights Falls.

Yarra Bend Park was officially reserved in 1877, and in 1929 it was joined with Studley Park to the south to cover the whole of the area today.

A shared walking and cycling path follows the Yarra River and goes high above Merri Creek in the western and northern sections of the park.
