We are upgrading the playground at Burwood Reserve on Warrigal Road in Glen Iris.
Status
We’ll start upgrading the playground from Monday 28 April 2025.
We plan to finish the playground upgrade and reopen it by mid-2025 (subject to weather conditions).
Works will take place Monday to Friday from 7 am to 4 pm (excluding public holidays).
How this may impact you during construction
- The playground, public toilets and barbecue area will be closed.
- Half of the car park will be closed and used by the contractor’s vehicles.
- The footpath from the car park to the tennis courts will be closed. Please use alternative routes during this time.

About the upgrade
This playground upgrade aims to:
- improve accessibility
- offer a range of play experiences for children
- ensure the playground is enhanced for families to enjoy into the future.
Key features of the upgrade include:
- a combination play unit with platforms, slides and climbing suitable for younger and older children, and play opportunities underneath
- a rope climbing unit
- a bounce pad
- monkey bars and turnover bars at different heights
- a triple swing frame
- logs and boulders for seating and play
- refurbished carousel.
Other features to be included in the wider playground space include:
- improved paths, seating and gathering areas
- built shade over parts of the playground
- more trees to increase shade in the future
- a dedicated accessible car parking space (which will replace 2 existing car spaces close to the playground entry)
- removal of the overhead electricity line.
Community consultation
We invited our community to share feedback to help guide the design for the new playground.
We received feedback over 2 rounds of consultation in late-2023 and early-2024. Thank you to everyone who had their say.
