Measure the antenna or aerial
Attached to a roof
Measure the height of your antenna or aerial from its highest point of attachment to the roof.
If the antenna or aerial is more than 3 m above the highest point of the building, you must get:
- a Building Permit and
- a Report and Consent from Council.
Freestanding
Measure the height of your freestanding antenna or aerial from the natural ground level.
If the antenna or aerial is more than 8 m above the natural ground level, you must get:
- a Building Permit and
- a Report and Consent from Council.

- If yes, apply for a Building Permit
Do you need to apply to Council for Report and Consent?
- If yes, apply for Report and Consent.
You can begin construction:
- after all your permits or permissions have been issued
- if your situation does not require any permits or permissions.
