About the course
The course:
- supports participants to develop relevant and achievable sustainability projects and initiatives
- empowers participants to deliver environmental sustainability projects and initiatives in the local community in support of Council priorities
- builds on participants’ existing strengths and areas of interest
- provides opportunities for participants to network and build relationships with like minded local community members.
This course responds to an action in our Climate Action Plan implementation plan to provide increased support for community leadership on climate action. Find out more on our Climate Action Plan hub.
Participants are selected through an expression of interest process.
Who is the course for?
Expressions of interest will be open to anyone 16 years or older who lives, works or studies in Boroondara.
This course is best suited to people with existing connections in their community who want to deliver meaningful sustainability initiatives on a local level.
For example, it could be people involved in:
- a local club, group or organisation (such as a sporting club, seniors’ group or religious group)
- a school or childcare
- a volunteer organisation
- university clubs or societies
- local business
- service delivery organisations
- neighbourhood houses
- community centres.
You must also:
- be passionate about taking action for the environment and delivering meaningful and tangible outcomes for the local community
- have a strong interest in developing and implementing an idea for an environmental sustainability project in the local community
- commit to attending a series of face-to-face evening sessions, each for roughly 2.5 hours delivered at a Boroondara Council site.
Community members with special or additional needs are encouraged to apply.
