Support to go electric
We partner with local government initiative Solar Savers to make installing solar panels, batteries, hot water systems and heating and cooling systems easier for local homeowners, renters, landlords and business owners.

Home energy assessments
We’ve partnered with Government-accredited Scorecard assessors, Ephe, to offer our community home energy assessments at an affordable cost.
The national Residential Efficiency Scorecard is a program supported and subsidised by the government. It gives a score for your home, just like your washing machine. It also gives you suggestions for how to improve your home to save money and reduce emissions.
Boroondara residents can get a Scorecard assessment with a further 50% discount off the already subsidised Victorian Energy Upgrade program (VEU) price. Boroondara residents who hold one of the below concession cards can get an assessment for 75% off the VEU subsidised price:
- Health Care Card
- Pensioner Concession Card
- Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card.
Ephe will apply the Victorian Energy Upgrade program subsidy and the Council discount at the time of booking. If you hold an eligible concession card, you’ll need to provide proof when booking.
Each household is eligible for one Council discounted assessment.
Visit the Boroondara page on the Ephe website for pricing information and to book.

- show gaps in insulation
- find appliances that are using a lot of energy.
Borrow a home energy kit
You can borrow a home energy meter and a thermal imaging camera in a kit from our Libraries. Included in the kit:
