Expo to help reach community climate targets

Council’s Climate Action Plan sets out targets to reduce Council’s corporate greenhouse gas emissions, as well as setting aspirational ‘community targets’ our whole community needs to work together to achieve.

Our community targets include:

  • being carbon neutral by 2035
  • reducing emissions by 60% by 2030 (compared with 2020 emissions)
  • reducing emissions by 100% by 2040.

One group which is independent of Council and working with the local community towards these targets is Electrify Boroondara, a community-led alliance dedicated to accelerating the transition to a clean-energy future.

Electrify Boroondara will host the ‘Electrify Boroondara – the future is electric!’ expo on Sunday 8 October from 10 am to 4 pm at the Hawthorn Arts Centre.

This free event will provide know-how and practical solutions to help you reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save money, improve your home’s comfort and contribute to a safer climate.

With speakers including renewable-energy advocate Saul Griffith and journalist Alan Kohler, this is an opportunity to meet suppliers, hear from experts, learn about energy efficiency and plan how to electrify your home, business and transport.

Learn how to make the switch at this family-friendly event and find out more about:

  • improving your home’s energy efficiency
  • rooftop solar and batteries
  • electric vehicles and e-bikes
  • induction cooktops and electric hot water
  • financing options, subsidies and rebates, and more.
