Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) rewards you with a 10-cent refund for every eligible drink container returned to a CDS refund point. Boroondara is located within the CDS Vic North Zone, operated by Visy.

Types of refund points

Over-the-counter

Over-the-counter (OTC) refund points include small businesses, community organisations, charities and sporting clubs. OTC refund point operators will count and sort your containers manually and process your payment. You can receive your refund in cash, electronic payment (EFT or PayID) and donate to a registered charity partner.

Reverse vending machines

Reverse vending machine (RVM) refund points are self-service, automated return and refund points. They operate from 7 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week.
Simply insert all your eligible cans, cartons, glass or plastic bottles into the machine. They are automatically counted and your refund processed on the spot. You can receive your refund as a paper voucher for a local supermarket or electronic payment (EFT or PayID). You can choose to donate your refund to a registered charity partner.

Gordon Barnard Reserve RVM installation

A reverse vending machine is being installed at Gordon Barnard Reserve. The installation is expected to start on 11 March and be completed by the end of March (weather permitting). To allow safe access to the RVM, one car park space will be converted to an entry point permanently.
