Activities for seniors

As a Boroondara library member, you have free access to a wide variety of films and music through streaming services. This allows you to play movies and songs on a phone, tablet, computer, or television screen using a casting service or HDMI cable. If you're not already a member of the Boroondara Library Service you can join online.

Deutscher Seniorenclub: Deutschsprachige Senioren treffen sich zum Mittagessen, Bingo, Kino, Gastsprecher, Kurzgeschichten und Gedichtlesungen. Es gibt deutsche Volkslieder, Geburtstags- und Weihnachtsfeiern und Besuche von Ausstellungen, Sehenswürdigkeiten, Restaurants sowie Busreisen.

German speaking seniors get together for lunch, bingo, movies, guest speakers, short stories and poem readings. German folk singing, birthday and Christmas celebrations. Visits to exhibitions, places of interest, restaurants and bus trips. Every Sunday from 11 am to 1 pm. Every second Tuesday from 10 am to 3 pm. Cost: please contact the club for details.

Enjoy a warm welcome from the Golden Friendship Group, who gather weekly for a hot 3-course lunch, fun, games, education sessions, concerts, guest speakers and the celebration of special events. Costs and times vary – get in touch for more information.

Greythorn Park Tennis Club offers coaching, social and competition tennis with a beautiful clubhouse in a great location and easy parking. Prices vary – contact the Club for more information.

We offer over 100 classes throughout the week, in studios, water and in our Performance Zone. Members and non-members are welcome to participate in Group Fitness classes. Please see our website for details.

Come and try one of our life drawing, painting or portraiture sessions. We have a range of tutored and untutored classes, for beginners and advanced artists. A full timetable of day and evening sessions is available on the website.

Hawthorn Rowing Club welcomes newcomers to our volunteer-based community club, home to the renowned Head of the Yarra regatta. Members range from 13 to 83, encompassing all levels of experience. What is common is the friendship and dedication built around a passion for rowing.

The club provides members (males and females) with the opportunity to compete in the game of lawn bowls at all competitive levels. It also provides social bowls and events to those that prefer the less competitive environment. Indoor Bias Carpet Bowls are played in the winter months. Booking required - please contact us to book. Camberwell Bowls Club is a welcoming club, and it is about community and people. It is a venue where the community can meet, socialise and play the great sport of lawn bowls. Cost: $300 for the first year, then $500 per year for ongoing membership. Runs every day.
