Boroondara celebrates over 15,000 heritage places. The completion of our Municipal Wide Heritage Gap Study and the Heritage Action Plan 2016 led to 5,490 more properties being protected in the Heritage Overlay.

You can nominate properties for us to consider for heritage assessment.

We focus on properties and precincts not included in previous studies, or where new information is available.

Examples of new information could be historic details linking the property to a:

  • significant event
  • important local family
  • reputable architect or builder.

You must include evidence of any new information, such as:

  • Copies of architectural plans showing authorship by an architect of note.
  • Excerpts of magazine or newspaper articles describing historical details of the property or the original owner, architect or builder.

We'll work towards heritage protection for properties that have the best chance of being added to the Heritage Overlay.
