Sports Club Accreditation Program set to reopen

An all-abilities cricket program and come-and-try women’s football events are among initiatives that helped local clubs get accredited in our first Boroondara Sports Club Accreditation Program, launched last year.

Now we’re inviting applications for the 2024–25 program, opening on 21 September. The program recognises clubs that provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for players and volunteers. It’s free to take part and if successful, accreditation lasts 2 years.

Ten clubs were accredited for 2023–24.

Gold accreditation

Burwood Cricket Club and Camberwell Hockey Club were awarded our highest level of accreditation. Initiatives included Burwood Cricket Club’s inclusive 8-week All Abilities Blast program and Camberwell Hockey Club’s partnership with Deakin University students to develop food classification systems and encourage healthy food options.

Silver accreditation

Old Scotch Football Club was awarded for inclusive policies and actions, including their come-and-try events for women’s and girls’ football.

Bronze accreditation

  • Camberwell Petanque
  • Camberwell Central Bowls Club
  • Hawthorn Amateur Football Club
  • Hawthorn Tennis Club
  • North Balwyn Bowls Club
  • South Camberwell Tennis Club
  • Deepdene Tennis Club

Applications for 2024–25 accreditation will close in December. For more information and to apply, visit our Sports Club Accreditation Program page.
