Drop off your soft plastics for recycling

Boroondara residents can now recycle their soft plastics through our new temporary drop-off service.

While we encourage our community to avoid soft plastics, we know it isn’t always possible. Our new service provides a short-term solution to recycle small household quantities of soft plastic, following the collapse of the REDcycle program.

The soft plastic collected is processed by APR Plastics in Dandenong South and turned back into raw materials to produce new plastic products.

Our 2 soft plastic collection points are:

There are limits on how much soft plastic we can accept at each collection point before they’re emptied every Thursday, so check our website before you visit to make sure it’s open.

To use the service:

  • check the list of accepted items and make sure the collection points are not full on our Temporary soft plastic recycling service page
  • bring your proof of residence
  • drop off your soft plastic at your preferred collection point.

Our temporary service will end when the Australian Government coordinates a longer-term, more viable soft-plastic recycling solution with the supermarket and packaging industry. We continue to advocate for this on behalf of our community.

For more information about our temporary service, visit our Temporary soft plastic recycling service page.
