Do you have a relocatable pool in your backyard? Did you know even inflatable pools may require a safety barrier and to be registered with Council?
Although they’re small, relocatable pools are still a drowning hazard for young children. Here are 3 tips to help prepare for backyard pool days:
- If your pool can hold 30cm of water or more, it needs to have a compliant relocatable safety barrier installed at all times.
- If your pool has been erected for 3 days in a row, it needs to be registered with us on the 4th day.
- If your pool has been erected for more than 30 days after registration, the barrier must be inspected and certified by a registered building inspector or building surveyor and a copy of the certificate lodged with Council.
To stop children reaching a pool, owners or occupiers must maintain compliant safety barriers, ensuring climbable objects are kept away from barriers and gates are not propped open.
