There are many types of walking activities that you can find happening in the City of Boroondara. These activities include walking sports, walking groups, walks led by historians and even Nordic Walking groups.
Walking can help you to maintain your balance and mobility as you age, but it is also proven to improve mood and mental health, so is a great idea for everyone to take part in. Many walking groups are not just about the physical exercise, they can be very social too.
Try out some walking sports
Walking sports are just what they sound like – versions of sports like football or basketball, but the players walk instead of run. Walking sports are fantastic if you want the fun of the game without the strenuous pace and rough contact.
The following walking sports programs are currently running in Boroondara:
- Walking Basketball – Wednesdays, 10 am to 11 am, Boroondara Sports Complex (Term 2 starts 17 April).
- Walking Football – Mondays, 10 am to 11 am, Boroondara Sports Complex (Term 2 starts 15 April)
- Walking Cricket – coming October 2024, Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre
