As we reach our Climate Action Plan’s halfway point, we’re asking for your input on what to do next.
Climate change is a real and growing threat to our environment, as well as our health and wellbeing. We know we need to keep taking action to tackle this vital issue.
That’s why we developed our Climate Action Plan 2021–31, to guide our efforts in addressing climate change. Thousands of ideas you gave us during consultation helped shape the plan and the specific actions we’ve taken so far.
We’re continuing to work with the community to make a positive impact. Our Climate Action Plan budget has supported the following recent achievements:
- Within the last year, we’ve installed solar panels on 22 community buildings in Boroondara to support renewable energy use.
- We transitioned community facilities such as the Ashburton Bowls Club to an all-electric facility, helping to move away from gas.
- Across 2024 our community and schools helped us plant more than 15,000 plants across Boroondara.
- We installed electric vehicle (EV) chargers, with more planned for 2025. EV owners charged their cars more than 10,000 times in 12 months at the Hawthorn-Glenferrie Road activity centre and Burwood Village shops. We’ve also installed EV chargers at our offices and depots to power Council’s fleet.
Tell us your ideas to tackle climate change
We’re now getting ready to review Boroondara’s Climate Action Plan. We’re calling for everyone to get involved with their ideas for acting locally.
What environmental issues should we focus on? How can we support you with your sustainability efforts?
Your feedback, information and ideas will be considered by our Climate Action Advisory Committee and councillors to help us set our actions and priorities.
It only takes a few minutes to complete our short survey. Share your thoughts before 5 pm on Friday 28 February on our Your Say Boroondara Climate Action Plan page.
