Construction update

Progress is being made as we build this new state-of-the-art facility, catering to our community’s health and wellbeing needs. At this stage, construction is expected to be completed by late 2026.

Work has started on the swimming pools, including construction of the 25-metre swimming pool and installing the balance tanks for the learn-to-swim and leisure pool. These tanks keep the water level in the pool right when it’s being used.

Safety

Our priority is building a safe facility for our community.

There are several layers of quality assurance measures which are being used on the project, including:

  • Engaging an independent superintendent to oversee the project contract administration
  • Having multiple parties review and approve design changes
  • Conducting audits of welding and steel fabrication processes
  • Engaging and independent structural engineer to check and certify all steel designs.

Additionally, a certified quality assurance program has been introduced for all structural steelwork. This involves external certification by Steelwork Compliance Australia, which requires rigorous testing at every step to ensure all steel components meet the highest Australian Standards, as well as detailed reporting and independent approval on all stages of the steel fabrication and erection processes.

Steel materials are being sourced from Australian suppliers where possible, and the steel frame is fabricated in a Melbourne workshop before being delivered to the site in stages.
