Every spring during nesting season, young lorikeets, butcher birds and fairy wrens start growing up and leaving the nest. Some leave a little too early.

Learn what to do if you find a baby bird on the ground or out of its nest.

You can also help native birds by joining the Superb City Wrens Bioblitz, a Melbourne-wide citizen science activity.

The goals of the Bioblitz are to:

  • build knowledge of the species
  • update their location records
  • track and count the populations of superb fairy wrens.

From Sunday 24 November to Saturday 30 November 2024, spot the bright blue boys or earthy-toned girls using the iNaturalist app.
