Our community bus serves adults aged 65 and older. It’s an affordable, pre-booked option for reliable door-to-door transport on weekdays in Boroondara.

You can use the bus for regular shopping trips, getting to the gym or library, or to attend seniors groups meetings and events.

Our new fleet of buses are fitted for your safety. Additional low steps make boarding easier and our friendly drivers will help with bags and walking aids.

How to get on board

You need to be approved by My Aged Care to use this service through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme. Register with My Aged Care by calling 1800 200 422 or visiting the My Aged Care website.

Once approved, ring us on 03 9278 4777 to start using the community bus. We’ll arrange a time to visit you to talk more about the service.

Become a volunteer driver

We coordinate volunteers who can use their own car or a Council-provided vehicle to help drive older residents from home to their medical appointments and back.

If you’re available to help on weekdays with 2 weeks’ notice of any requests, consider giving our Active Ageing team a call on 03 9278 4777 to learn more about becoming a volunteer driver.

Keen on some home-cooked meals?

We’re delighted to have many new volunteers to support Boroondara Cooks, our meal-sharing program for seniors. Please contact us if you, or an older resident you know, would appreciate a home-cooked meal and friendly conversation to improve social connection and wellbeing.

We’ll help connect you with a volunteer home cook who’s offered to deliver an extra portion of their meals on a regular basis.

To learn more, visit our help accessing meals page or call us on 03-9278 4777.
