About the event

This event unites community groups and leaders from local repair businesses to share creative ideas and effective ways you can:

  • reduce waste and your environmental footprint
  • extend the lifespan of products.

In 2022-23, over 60,000 tonnes of materials were collected from kerbside bins in Boroondara. Out of this, 44,000 tonnes were diverted from landfill for recycling or repurposing.

Reusing, repairing and recycling is a simple way to help look after our environment, send less waste to landfill and keep material in circulation for longer.

We are delivering this event as part of our Living for our Future program and ‘Make, Mend, Do: Crafting a circular economy’ program. You can find out more about these programs on our Sustainable living workshops and events page.

Become a new home for pre-loved items

Stop by and say hello to Boroondara Hard Rubbish Rehome (BHHR), who will be gifting some high-quality, pre-loved items.

BHHR rescues good-quality items from hard rubbish and gives them a second life. They recently received the Volunteer Program Innovation Award as part of our Volunteer Awards.

It’s a great opportunity to chat to the team and discover more about:

  • making use of pre-loved items
  • keeping items in use and out of landfill
  • the circular economy (reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling products for as long as possible).
