Detailed plans for the new wetlands were completed in July 2017. In August 2017, the State Government announced proposals and options for the North East Link project.
The Government’s preferred option has implications for Boroondara and we are actively working with the North East Link Authority to obtain the best outcomes for Boroondara. The Current North East Link design places works very close to the location of the proposed Chandler Park Wetlands. Until the North East Link designs are finalised, there is a risk that the works would have a negative impact on the wetlands.
Council remains optimistic that the wetlands remain viable but will postpone any decisions about proceeding until the detailed designs for the North East Link are finalised.
