Activities for seniors

Join us on Tuesday and Friday mornings between 9:30 am to 11 am at the Seniors Exercise Park in Victoria Park, Kew. These sessions are run by a group of 10 volunteers from the community who have undertaken training with the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI). This friendly, enthusiastic team is equipped to run our Come and Try sessions at the park, and demonstrate how you can use the equipment safely and effectively. If you’re interested in ways to improve balance, strength, or mobility, or you want to try a new activity this year, come along to our next Come and Try session.

Do you feel you have got the hang of basic skills on your computer, tablet and smartphone, but want to build your knowledge and confidence in using technology, smart phones, computers and the internet? If you want to become more familiar with new technology and using your devices this course is for you!

Join our seated and standing exercises using hand weights and resistance bands. Our personal trainers are here to guide you and make sure you make the most of your Exercise program. Have a confidential assessment with our qualified staff to discuss your goals so we can assist you in finding what will best fit you. After the effort comes comfort. Each exercise class is followed by a cuppa and a chat with our lovely instructors.
Note: your first exercise session at Balwyn Evergreen Centre is free. We can also help you get to your class and back home safely; simply ask about our Transport Service, available upon request.

Walking basketball is a low-impact, social and fun way to improve your levels of physical activity. It's suitable for inactive or slightly active seniors aged 50 years and over, including those recovering from injury. We invite you to learn the game and play in a fun, social and safe environment. No skills required!

Walking Basketball is a slower and more social version of traditional basketball. It is suitable for participants of all ages, genders, and abilities, providing optimal health benefits to all who participate. The program is designed to decrease the risk factors associated with sedentary behaviour and offers a level playing field for everyone within a social, fun, and non-competitive environment. Every Wednesday, 10am at Boroondara Sports Complex.
