Activities for over 55s

Interested in studying philosophy, world cultures or history? Like to keep up with current affairs and discuss politics? U3A Deepdene offers over 70 courses and activities. Becoming a member is a great way to stimulate the mind and meet new people.

Let's walk the local streets and discover new tracks together. Initial walks will be pram friendly, approximately 2 to 3km at a moderate pace so we can enjoy the scenery and chat. If you have local history knowledge we'd love you to share this with us. Please register by phone, or the Heart Foundation website.

We welcome members of the community to come along with friends or family to enjoy a casual game for $4 per person (subject to room availability). We have the bats and balls. 10 session passes are available for $36, or there are 5 session passes for $10. Runs on Thursdays.

A series of fortnightly sessions to assist you to start to write about your life and to provide useful ideas and strategies to ensure your writing comes to life on the page. Life writing topics, readings from published memoirs and stories shared by participants will inspire group members to recall their own personal histories.

Camberwell Camera Club, a friendly group with nearly 70 years of history and about 150 active members, welcomes new members with all levels of photographic experience. The Club meets every Monday at 7:30 pm for guest presentations and workshops, as well as offering mid-week outings, and it's annual ‘beyond point and shoot’ course which will help you take your photography to the next level. Our U3A is a welcoming environment that aims to provide learning opportunities and social interaction for retired and semi-retired members of the community. There is a wide range of classes and activities on offer and presenters are drawn from both outside and within the member group. We run over 70 full year courses – languages, exercise & walking groups, literature & film groups, music courses, art classes, extending your thinking sessions, history groups and travel presentations. These are all led by member tutors. Plus more than 80 short courses each term presented by local, interstate, and international lecturers.
