University of the Third Age (U3A) Deepdene Days: Monday Location: University of the Third Age (U3A) Deepdene, Balwyn Park Centre Balwyn Our U3A is a welcoming environment that aims to provide learning opportunities and social interaction for retired and semi-retired members of the community. There is a wide range of classes and activities on offer and presenters are drawn from both outside and within the member group. We run over 70 full year courses – languages, exercise & walking groups, literature & film groups, music courses, art classes, extending your thinking sessions, history groups and travel presentations. These are all led by member tutors. Plus more than 80 short courses each term presented by local, interstate, and international lecturers. U3A Hawthorn was established for people in their third age who are over the age of 55 and are retired or are semi-retired. Our mission is to provide opportunities for seniors to learn, teach, share and to give mutual support to each other in a friendly and warm environment, regardless of ethnicity, religion, ability or disability. Our courses cover a wide range of interest areas, from academic to physical and artistic activities. Our members enjoy both the intellectual engagement and the social aspect of our courses.
