Activities for seniors

U3A Hawthorn, established in 1984, is a nonprofit, community, self-help organization which provides a range of adult education courses, recreational activities and excursions for retired and semi-retired people. U3A Hawthorn was established for people in their third age who are over the age of 55 and are retired or are semi-retired. Our mission is to provide opportunities for seniors to learn, teach, share and to give mutual support to each other in a friendly and warm environment, regardless of ethnicity, religion, ability or disability. Our courses cover a wide range of interest areas, from academic to physical and artistic activities. Our members enjoy both the intellectual engagement and the social aspect of our courses.

Victoria Park Tennis Club offers social tennis for adults and competition and social tennis for children. Coaching is also provided on a commercial basis for people of all ages. We have about 150 members with ages ranging from under 10 to over 90.

Enjoy walking around the neighbourhood with other locals, enjoying a coffee along the way.

YThrive: Gold Workouts are video workouts designed by the YMCA for older people of varying abilities. They're free and you can do them wherever and whenever suits you.

With its easy, flowing choreography, Zumba is designed for everyone. All abilities are welcome, and no dance experience is necessary. So come and join Paulina on every second Friday of the month for a fun exercise session. BYO water bottle and face towel if you need one.
