Electrify Boroondara Expo
Community-led alliance Electrify Boroondara will host the ‘Electrify Boroondara – the future is electric!’ expo on Sunday 8 October from 10 am to 4 pm at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. This free event will provide know-how and practical solutions to help you reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save money, improve your home’s comfort and contribute to a safer climate.
Speakers include renewable-energy advocate Saul Griffith and journalist Alan Kohler, and you can learn about improving your home’s energy efficiency, rooftop solar and batteries, electric vehicles and e-bikes, induction cooktops and electric hot water, financing options, subsidies and rebates, and more.

Victorian Seniors Festival
The Victorian Seniors Festival takes place across the state throughout October, and there’s lots on locally for older adults to enjoy. Open-day events and ‘come and try’ sessions are taking place at seniors clubs, sports clubs and community centres across Boroondara. Activities include gardening workshops, information sessions on health and wellbeing, morning tea get-togethers, music recitals, and art classes and exhibitions. What’s happening at Boroondara Arts
Art After Hours pairs local live music with exquisite exhibitions on Friday 20 October. New community exhibition Love the One You’re With brings vibrant large-scale works to the Town Hall Gallery, and October is your last chance to see major exhibition The Memory Palace, by Cyrus Tang, and community exhibitions When a Moment Becomes a Memory and Healing.
Experience the great songs of Nina Simone as Ruth Rogers-Wright takes to the Hawthorn Arts Centre stage. Quercus Trio fill Kew Court House with classical and contemporary sounds. And take part in craft-inspired events and activities in our Make, Mend, Do: Crafting a circular economy series.
