Event details
Participate in an interactive art activity to make your own abstract artwork at Hawthorn Arts Centre. This is a great summer school holidays outing. Visitors are welcome to display their creations or take them home. All materials supplied.
This activity is suitable for all ages including children.
Please note Hawthorn Arts Centre is closed from Wednesday 25 December to Friday 27 December 2024 inclusive.
Step 1: Get inspired
Explore the ‘Aspects of Abstraction: Charles Nodrum Collection’ exhibition and observe the different shapes, colours and styles of the artworks on display. How do the artworks make you feel and what do they remind you of?
Step 2: Create your artwork
Let your imagination run wild and create your own abstract artwork! Select your materials and use a black piece of paper as your canvas. Use coloured paper, pencils, textas, glue, and scissors to blend imagery and shapes inspired by the exhibition.
Step 3: Display your masterpiece
When you’ve finished your artwork, display it on the wall using blu-tack (or take it home). Take a moment to admire your work and the work of others in your community.
Remember, there are no rules in abstract art! Feel free to experiment with different shapes, colours and techniques. Please pack up after yourself when finished.
