About the exhibitions
‘Opportunity’ by Ellen McKenna
In every stitch and scuff lies an opportunity to reimagine and celebrate preloved fashion. Ellen McKenna transforms second-hand items from Boroondara’s op shops—denim jackets, leather belts, bags, shirts, and shoes—into vibrant works of art. She uses digital and painterly expressions to create bold patterns, which she then hand-applies with a paintbrush, breathing new life into these everyday objects.
McKenna’s distinctive designs embrace colour, movement, and balance, showcasing the beauty and utility of sustainable reuse. This community exhibition encourages audiences to explore their local op shops, embrace creative reuse, and find joy in the vibrant possibilities of preloved clothing and accessories.
‘A View’ by Andrew Li
Featuring works by local artist Andrew Li, ‘A View’ is a community exhibition celebrating the everyday beauty that surrounds us, often unnoticed.
In a world that moves at an ever-increasing pace, we can lose sight of the quiet moments that fill our daily lives. This exhibition features paintings, sketches and digital works inspired by the landscapes and scenes of Boroondara, capturing the colours that shift with the seasons, moods, and light. Li invites viewers to see familiar places with fresh eyes, encouraging a deeper connection to the area many call home.
