We invite local not-for-profit organisations and community groups to join us for our upcoming Community OnBoard workshop, Aboriginal Cultural Awareness.
At Boroondara, we’re committed to creating a welcoming community where the histories, cultures, knowledge, achievements and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are acknowledged, respected, considered and celebrated, as expressed through our Boroondara Reconciliation Strategy 2022-26.
Join us for an insightful session with Karen Milward, an Aboriginal consultant and proud Yorta Yorta woman who grew up in Glen Iris. In this workshop, Karen will:
- share personal reflections
- provide an overview of the diverse local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sector and communities in the Eastern Metropolitan Region
- discuss meaningful and respectful engagement
- emphasise the importance of organisational cultural safety.
Karen’s powerful storytelling invites you to elevate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and create and strengthen reciprocal relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations.
