Landscape artist Joe Blundell was presented with challenges for his practice in 2020. Restricted from travelling more than five kilometres from home during the COVID-19 lockdown, he found new inspiration at creeks, streams, and woodlands around Boroondara. This exhibition is a reminder of nature at the doorstep of our suburban lives.
Blundell paints in oil on linen, developing works both in nature and in his studio.
Joe Blundell was the winner of the 2019 Boroondara Arts Encouragement Award which recognises excellence in contemporary visual art. The annual award presented to a local exhibitor in the Camberwell Art Show offers the opportunity to exhibit at Hawthorn Arts Centre.
Nature within 5km’ by Joe Blundell was on display at Town Hall Gallery from Tuesday 16 March to Saturday 1 May 2021.
