‘Questionable Ancestry Club’ by Dustin Voggenreiter – online exhibition

Bold and textural, ‘Questionable Ancestry Club’ by Dustin Voggenreiter is a series of abstract works exploring the artist’s lineage. Experimenting with form and colour, the artist grapples with the traits, quirks, and anxieties inherent with an ambiguous ancestry, riddled with disparity and loose ends.

Growing up in Western Australia as a ‘Third Culture Child’, Voggenreiter is intrigued by the interplay of nature versus nurture and the mixture of dubious, evolving stories about his family tree. Voggenreiter’s unique approach to abstract art, including a series of plywood works covered in a vinyl wrap, serve as a metaphor for how ancient attitudes and traits are embedded beneath our experiences of the contemporary world.

Beginning as a journey to discover his parent’s heritage and country of origin, ‘Questionable Ancestry Club’ celebrates the ambiguous and unknown.

Many of the artworks in this exhibition are for sale. You can buy an artwork at the Boroondara Arts shop website.
